"Dimensions of Solitude" by Terrie Myers
|
Classic oil painting is the highlight of "Dimensions of Solitude," a tranquil and restful exhibit of work by Terrie Myers at the Nina Bliese Gallery in April and May. The paintings are crisp, fresh and classically contemporary as she employs the methods of the Flemish, Venetian and Impressionist Masters. Painting from life subjects allows the play of light to reveal the natural color in all of its subtleties and intensities. The result is a beautiful, timeless message that is relevant for generations.

Terrie Myers is a representational fine artist with formal
training from the prestigious Atelier Program of Fine Art in Minneapolis. Her masterful, technical ability is rooted in
the classic tradition that traces its lineage back to the Boston School of
painters.
|
Her art invites you into a dimension of solitude, to
retreat from the fast paced, techno, and often precarious world we live in –
internally and externally. Her works
focus on peaceful, meditative, silent places; places where she, herself, found
healing as she journeyed through the loss of her son to a drunk driver in
2003. Myers’ paintings are solely
intuitive and mentally restful.
|
“Although painting is a process, it also puts me in an
altered state close to that of prayer. It’s a place where I visually seek the
harmony between the creation of God and the creation of man. I can escape the chaos around me – where
almost everything is virtual – and enter a compassionate world where I sit in
the quiet of something real. That is
where peace, through beauty, is restorative.”
|
Myers’ work covers the full spectrum of representational
art, including landscapes, seascapes, still-lifes, and portraits. She creates full time, painting in either her
country studio on the outskirts of Minneapolis, or her home on Lake Superior.
